My dearest summer,
You have truly captured my heart. I have spent these days laboring hard on the farm rooting through the earth to pluck fresh root vegetables from Mother Earth’s womb and afterward, coming home to plunge into the cooling waters of the river I am so fortunate to live by, cleansing the dirt and the sweat and the blood from weary and sun warmed body.
I have felt profoundly blessed by your life giving warmth but I welcome the cooler, shorter days ahead. I long to burrow into my little hobbit hole, snuggled in cable knits and clutching mugs of hot tea, to smell the brisk air, hear and feel the leaves crunching beneath my boots, watch the flames flickering merrily in the fireplace and take great pleasure in feeling drowsy and flopsy and warm.
The coziest, most lovely socks gifted to me by the lovely Bekah aka A Well Traveled Woman.
You’re so loved my dear.
